The first thing that strikes me while looking through Judith Gisser's book is that it is not a run of the mill kitschy weight loss program. It is the opposite. The book nourishes you with facts and explanations for a total life changing program, but it's a relatively easy program to help you control your weight, exercise and keep a simple diary of what you have accomplished.

This program is different, more efficient and effective than the current fad diets books out there. It is, in fact, not a diet book. It is a life changing book designed to make you look at food, exercise and nutrition as an ongoing process. It is filled with easy to grasp ideas, smart techniques and creative and tasty recipes. This is a life changing book--you will not look at food and decisions you make about food the same way again.

I have used many of the simple, yet excellent dishes, such as "Herbed Green Beans" and have incorporated them into my general diet, making them an alternative to some of the more complicated gourmet (but more fattening) recipes I have used in the past. I have gotten complements for all of the dishes I've tried, such as Roasted Root Vegetables, (which include my favorite veggie, parsnips) and some of these have come from my teenage kids, who are used to fast and fried food.

The book is very easy to follow and even though I lost 45 lbs while reading the book the first time, I continue to use it in my culinary and dietary decisions.
